Toddlers (18 to 36 months)
Our Toddler Room exposes children to a more routine-oriented program. Our main focus is helping children gain more independence by encouraging them to attempt basic self-help skills. These include activities such as dressing, potty training, and washing hands. We also encourage language development skills through stories, teacher modeling and word repetition.
Children in this room are often learning how to socialize with other children in a positive way for the first time. A wide variety of art, music and gross motor activities offered by our teachers assists the children in developing their individual abilities. Toddlers are taken outside to play twice a day for approximately 45 minutes, weather permitting.
“My son started at Merryhill Child Care Center in the toddler room. From the first day I dropped him off, I knew we made the right decision. Each and every teacher made us feel welcome. My son had a difficult time at first with separation anxiety but quickly overcame that due to the kind and gentle nature of all of the teachers who made him feel welcome, comfortable, and loved. I like to refer to Merryhill as a part of our family. Everyone there has an enormous amount of patience and a genuine love for all of the children. My son has learned so much during his time at Merryhill. It has been great to watch him grow into the fun, loving five year old boy that he is today and I owe much of that to Merryhill.” – Lisa
